A New Mexican’s Tribute to the tasty pepper

In the early nineties, while living in Arizona, I began collecting Native American stone Fetishes – in particular, the Bears.  Primarily carved by the Zuni Indians, the Bear represented Strength & Health and when, in 1992, I was diagnosed with cancer, collecting the “Fetish” Bears – with their innate powers of strength & health – seemed a smart thing to do.

About the same time, I found myself designing Internet Web pages and called my burgeoning enterprise “Fetishbear”.  Over the ensuing years, there’s been Fetishbear Web Design, Fetishbear Photography and Fetishbear Racing.  Unfortunately, the term “Fetish” became subverted to mean a sexual predilection and more and more, I tire of explaining the genesis of my unusual business name and how it came about.

Over the years, my website catered less to business and more to just a way to keep family and friends up to speed on what I was up to.  Eventually, it encompassed pictures and stories about our lovely home in Nova Scotia, my passions for photography and motorcycles and favorite recipes from my wife who just happens to be, in my humble opinion, about the best cook and baker this side of the Pecos.

2010 seemed to be as good a time as ever to make a change so I began searching for an all-encompassing name for my web presence.  Not surprisingly, most all of the real great domain names I could think of were already taken.  Then it hit me…

I live in New Mexico – The Land of Enchantment – where climate and a great ethnic culture have united to make my favorite food – the Green Chili Pepper – and thus the new name.  Hopefully “Green Chili” will never become a pseudonym for sweaty sex or I might be in trouble!
